What To Do in Bali?

Here are the list of what to do in Bali. I hope this can make your vacation full of new experiences.

1. To the wavy beach

Bali is famous for its beautiful beaches. There are many attractive beaches in Bali with varying sand. There are white sandy beaches, some are black sand beaches and some fine sandy stone. There are choppy quiet beach and there are also perfect for surfing beaches.

If you like to surf, you can come to the Kuta beach or Uluwatu. But if you want to relax on a quiet beach you can go to the Jimbaran, Sanur or Padang-Padang beach.

2. To the rice fields

People of Bali is an agrarian society. They lived from farming. Therefore there is a lot of rice fields and vegetables fields on the island of Bali. The rice field is located on the hillside and built in terraced form. You will see the most amazing views of rice fields. They are so green and beautiful terraces.

There are many views of rice fields in Bali Such as in Jatiluwih, Tegallalang and Ubud. We really like the amazing view of terraced rice fields in Ubud, while the rice fields in Tegallalang is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

3. To the relaxing spa

The most relaxing thing to do in Bali is going to the spa and and indulge yourself in pleasure of spa treatment. There are so many style of spas, from modern style to traditional one, from luxury rooms to the river bank or sandy beach. Choose a style that you love to and enjoy your time.

4. To the art performance

Bali is famous for its art. Various kinds of art are there such as dance, painting and carving. The Balinese are very talented in the arts. Lots of art galleries featuring paintings and engravings. For dances performances, you can go to Batubulan to watch the Barong dance or to Uluwatu for the Kecak dance. Or you can go to Ubud, where each night featuring a spectacular dances such as Legong dance or Wayang Kulit (shadow puppet). Ticket is only cost around Rp 100,000 – to Rp 175,000.

5. To the exciting courses

There are many types of amazing Bali arts and you start to learn to make them yourself. Most of Bali hotels and many places around Ubud offer many kinds of courses like, woodcarving, cooking, dance,  painting etc. Or if you prefer something more spiritual such as yoga, meditation or other types of health and well being activities, there is enough choice on the island as well.

6. To the amazing temples (Pura)

Bali is the island of gods (Indonesia : Pulau Dewata). There are thousands of temples on Bali island and they are hundreds years old. A record shows that there is about 12.611 temples, exclude family temples, in Bali. Several most famous temples are :

  • Pura Tanah Lot – sacred temple on the large offshore rock at Tabanan
  • Pura Besakih – the mother of temple for the Balinese at slope of Mt. Agung
  • Pura Luhur Uluwatu – sacred temple on the cliff of Uluwatu
  • Pura Ulun Danu Beratan – at shore of Lake Bratan near Bedugul
  • Pura Tirta Empul –  a temple with sacred water at Tampak Siring
  • Pura Taman Ayun – Royal temple of Mengwi Empire.
  • Pura Penataran Sasih – at Pejeng, estimated as the oldest temple
  • Pura Goa Gajah – a temple at Bedaulu
  • Pura Goa Lwah – temple in a cave, at Candidasa, filled with thousands bats

7. To the underwater world

If you like to dive or snorkel then you can go to Menjangan island at North-West Bali. The coral and the large number of fish  in Menjangan island are amazing. We can also snorkel in Amed, Lovina, Candidasa and Padangbai. But I think Menjangan Island is the best site for snorkeling and scuba diving in Bali.
