Initially, the area was only set aside as a camping ground or an outdoor training center for various communities, due to its natural characteristics and geographical features. However, the camping ground subsequently developed into a natural park which can offer a wide range of activities for families such as Flying Fox, Water Ball, Shake Stairs, ATV arena, Cargo Net, hot springs, and elaborate waterpark facilities. The addition of the waterpark in 2010 gave Ranca Upas its current name as “Kampung Cai” or Water Village.

For the perfect experience, you should camp right in the camping ground of Ranca Upas. However there are also a number of hotels in the Ciwidey Area for your accommodation options.

Those who wish to experience the natural ambience of Ranca Upas should really try to camp here. You can bring your own gear and logistics; but there are a number of ‘warungs’ or stalls that also provide snacks, meals, and even firewood. If you want to be practical, you can also rent tents, sleeping bags, and other camping necessities right here in the camping ground, at quite reasonable prices.

Kampung Cai Ranca Upas is located about 50 Kilometers south from the center of Bandung City. Depending on the traffic in and around Bandung, the trip will take a little over two hours.
