Situated not too far from the enchanting Kawah Putih Crater Lake and the picturesque Situ Patengan and set amidst the lush green forest of Ciwidey, the Kampung Cai Ranca Upas will truly indulge those who enjoy the beauty of nature. The natural park is located within the Alam Endah Village, Ciwidey district, in the Bandung Regency, approximately 50 Kilometers south of Bandung City, capital of West Java Province.
In the Sundanese language, Kampung Cai means Water Village, so that the area can also be called: Ranca Upas Water Village.
Covering a total area of 215 hectares and situated 1,700 meters above sea level, Ranca Upas is a lush green forest which offers not only serenity but also fresh cool natural breeze. Inside the forest a number of rare trees are found that include Huru, Hamirug, Jamuju, Kihujan, Kitambang, Kurai, Pasang, the Puspa tree, and more. Designated as a protected forest, Ranca Upas is also home to monkeys and a variety of birds.
One most appealing attraction here is the deer conservation compound where visitors can observe and interact directly with the deer. In the 5 hectares compound, visitors can also feed these gentle creatures with carrots and other vegetables provided by the management.
Initially, the area was only set aside as a camping ground or an outdoor training center for various communities, due to its natural characteristics and geographical features. However, the camping ground subsequently developed into a natural park which can offer a wide range of activities for families such as Flying Fox, Water Ball, Shake Stairs, ATV arena, Cargo Net, hot springs, and elaborate waterpark facilities. The addition of the waterpark in 2010 gave Ranca Upas its current name as “Kampung Cai” or Water Village.
